JOHN JACKSON R.I.P

John Jackson was the goalkeeper in Leven AFC's first ever teams going back to the early 1990's.
John was an outstanding talent on the pitch and a fantastic lad off it, a credit to himself and his family. John earned recognition from Middlesbrough Football Club becoming a contracted keeper. John continued his playing career in the Northern League and was known to be one of the best keepers around earning respect from fellow players and supporters.
John always had time to talk and help where he could, this season he gave up some of his valuable time to train some of the Levens young keepers, approaching the sessions like he was playing himself, with ultimate professionalism.
A great keeper but an even better person, John will be sadly missed by many.
Our thoughts go out to John's family, girlfriend and friends at this sad time

John, you will always be our number 1

John Jackson who sadly lost his life in tragic circumstances Friday 2nd May 2008.

DURHAM COUNTY FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION DEVELOPMENT CLUB OF THE YEAR 2006

Leven AFC were founded in the mid 80's previously called Eaglescliffe United with one Junior boy's team.
The home pitches were near to Teesside Airport (Durham Tees Valley).

The Club changed it's name to Leven AFC in 1988 and moved to it's present home "The Recreation Ground" on Durham Lane.

The Club was one of the first Three Clubs in the country to achieve the coveted Charter Standard award from the Football Association in 2001 for it's high standard of organisation, coach training and child protection.

Today there are 14 teams playing in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance leagues.

We have a Saturday morning Soccer School at Conyers School outside on the Astro Turf which runs all year round breaking only for a Xmas break. The School caters for 5-10 years of age and is open from 10.00 12.00hrs.
All are welcome.

There is a dedicated Girls section now having weekly coaching sessions.

There are also coaches trained and qualified to administer disability coaching sessions when required and to cater for young persons with disabilities.

Leven have numerous Club School links with local Schools to help with training and expertise as required.
