Leven AFC History

The Club was formed in the mid 80's and originally called Eaglescliffe United, playing with one team at a pitch near to Durham Tees Valley Airport.

Changes in Club officials and a new venue, The Recreation Ground Durham Lane Eaglescliffe coincided with a renaming exercise in 1988 and the Club was born.

Steady growth from that one original team in 1988 and 16 players to its status today of 14 teams and 250 young members.

The Club and it's teams have in this period won countless League Championships, League and County Cup titles and competitions.

In 2001 Leven AFC became only the third Club in the country to achieve the coveted Football Association Charter Standard Development Award for its ethos to raise standards, provide FA qualified coaches and CRB checked officials and volunteers.

In 1986 the Club received the Teesside Junior Football Alliance Club of the Year award.

In 2006 the Club became The Durham County Football Associations Development "Club of the Year"
